THROUGH THE VALLEY
Perplexity has unveiled Personal Computer, a local version of its Computer AI agent system that runs on a dedicated Mac mini, positioning it as a more secure alternative to the viral OpenClaw. Announced at the company’s first developer event, the system lets the Comet assistant access local files, apps, and active sessions instead of relying only on cloud data. Users can describe tasks in plain language and the agent breaks them into steps and executes them directly on the machine, from reading documents to organizing folders.e new local version is not yet available, but a waitlist has opened.
Elon Musk has revealed a joint Tesla and xAI project called Macrohard, an experimental system designed to replicate the work of software companies. The concept pairs xAI’s Grok model, which plans and guides tasks, with a Tesla AI agent that watches computer screens and controls the keyboard and mouse. Musk says the goal is to simulate how software companies design and build products. The system is expected to run on Tesla’s AI4 chips alongside Nvidia server hardware. The project follows Tesla’s $2 billion investment in xAI and arrives as AI agents begin automating more types of computer-based work.
Replit has introduced Agent 4, a new AI coding agent built to help developers create software faster. The system can design interfaces, write code, manage databases, and run several tasks at once. Teams can submit multiple requests simultaneously while the agent organizes them and completes them in sequence. Replit says the approach lets developers focus more on ideas and less on coordination. Agent 4 can generate web apps, mobile apps, presentations, and other project assets inside the same workspace, keeping everything connected while the agent works in the background. Alongside the launch, Replit announced a $400 million funding round that values the company at $9 billion as it expands its AI development platform.
