🔉 ElevenLabs announces AI Sound Effects

OpenAI’s Sora is cool but mute; ElevenLab’s new background sound effect wants to fix that.

ElevenLabs is essentially saying, "Leave your sound designer in the 2020s," because it will automatically get better audio for your video clips with just a few prompts.

In its latest post on X, ElevenLabs has posted a short video sample with AI-generated sound. Interestingly, the company used videos that were made by OpenAI Sora (yes, those very clips that had us all in awe).

🔍️ OpenAI is working on Web Search to compete with Google

According to the Information reports, OpenAI is working on a new search engine. After the report, Google's shares took a dive faster than a dog fleeing a bath.

Some people inside the project believe it might use Microsoft's Bing in some way.

It's not yet known if this will be added to ChatGPT or be its own separate thing.

Google, which is in the midst of rolling out Gemini (and its bigger sibling, Gemini Plus), might just feel like the universe picked a fine time to throw them a curveball.

🖼️ Stability AI reveals a more powerful model, Stable Cascade

Stable Cascade is a new, improved version of the Stable Diffusion AI image creator made by Stability AI. It's faster and more powerful than its predecessor. Many projects that already use Stable Diffusion are expected to switch to Stable Cascade.

How it works:

• This new model can modify images it has made, make images clearer, and has special tools for editing parts of an image or creating new images from just outlines.

• And the cherry on top? it's free for researchers to use on GitHub.

• It can make crispy, sharp images in just 10 seconds, while the older version took 22 seconds.

💸 Reddit has a new AI training deal to sell user content

In a plot twist worthy of a Reddit thread itself, Reddit has made a deal allowing a big AI company to use its platform content, which could be worth $60 million a year, as reported by Bloomberg.

The exact company working with Reddit isn't clear, but it's a bigger agreement than the $5 million a year OpenAI has reportedly offered to news outlets.

Many assume that Reddit plays a central role in the training of LLMs such as GPT-4, Meta's LLaMa, or Google's models. After all, the platform is a goldmine of human-rated content, thanks to its upvote and downvote system.
