The trademark application for the voice engine covers speech recognition, generating voice and audio outputs, and advanced language processing.

OpenAI has also filed trademark applications for its future models, including GPT-6 and GPT-7, in October.

🍏 Apple reveils its First Multimodal AI Model

Apple has unveiled MM1, a family of multimodal models capable of handling images and text.

With 30 billion parameters, MM1 combines visual and test cues for enhanced understanding and generation. 

ChatGPT 3.5 (free version) for comparison has 20B parameters.

With its multimodal understanding capabilities, MM1 could significantly enhance Siri (understanding questions based on images), iMessage (interpreting shared images and text), and other Apple products.

And it may debut on the iPhone and Mac this summer.

Stability AI’s founder and CEO have resigned to pursue decentralized AI.

In a series of posts on X, Mostaque said that one can’t beat “centralized AI” with more “centralized AI,” referring to the ownership structure of top AI startups such as OpenAI and Anthropic.

Bold move, Mostaque, bold move.

While firms like Stability AI and Anthropic seek profitable business models, others, like Mostaque, appear motivated by the goal of democratizing AI access and development.
