🤖 OpenAI’s SORA vs China’s Vidu

In response to the global advancements in AI technologies, particularly OpenAI's Sora, China-based startup Shengshi-AI has introduced its text-to-video AI model, Vidu.

It appears that Vidu is still some way from matching Sora’s capabilities.

Vidu can generate high-definition videos lasting up to 16 seconds, whereas Sora can generate 60-second clips and its visuals aren't as realistic as those of Sora.

But this would still put Vidu at the cutting edge of rapidly evolving AI-generated tools like Pika and Gen-2, which only produce clips lasting up to 4 seconds.

Although Vidu isn't quite on par with Sora in some ways, its unique capabilities and ongoing development indicate it could improve greatly.

As recently as February, Vidu was reportedly only capable of generating 4-second clips, but that has increased fourfold in just a few months.

In March, its CEO, Tang Jiayu, said: “It’s certain that the model can reach Sora’s level this year, though it’s difficult to say whether it will take three months or six months.”

1. Tesla unveils its first look at the Robotaxi ride-hailing app.

2. Apple is in talks with OpenAI for iPhone generative AI features. The update could include a new Apple AI chatbot, like ChatGPT.

3. According to CEO Elon Musk, Tesla's humanoid robot, Optimus, may be ready to sell by the end of next year. Elon says:

   • Optimus eventually costs less than half the price of a car.

   • Optimus will be more valuable than everything else combined at Tesla.

4. Nvidia CEO hand-delivers the world’s fastest AI system to OpenAI, again—the first DGX H200 given to Sam Altman and Greg Brockman.

5. Adobe has developed an AI application called VideoGigaGAN that can accept a blurry video and enhance it to make it a much shaper product. 

6. JP Morgan AI Research introduces FlowMind, a novel machine learning approach that leverages the capabilities of LLMs such as GPT to create an automatic workflow generation system.

7. Nexus AI, the world’s first AI trading bot, is now officially available.

8. China developed its very own Neuralink—a Neucyber brain interface that comes from a neurotechnology firm.

9. What will Instagram’s chatbot creator look like?

10. Synthesia launched Expressive Avatars, a new family of fully generative AI digital humans powered by their new EXPRESS-1 model that can ‘understand’ what they're saying.

11. Yesterday, the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center unveiled Tiangong. It’s a full-size electric humanoid robot that can run up to 3.7 miles per hour.

13. Google’s new ‘Speaking Practice’ feature uses AI to help users improve their English skills

14. A video of a Baltimore school principal, Eric Eiswert, went viral in January for allegedly going on a “racist” rant aimed at the students at his school. But here’s the kicker - it was all fake.
