PEAK OF THE DAY

Generated by new ChatGPT Images | Courtesy: OpenAI

OpenAI just launched a new version of ChatGPT Images, replacing the old image tool with a unified Images experience inside ChatGPT (web + mobile). It is rolling out today in ChatGPT for all users and in the API as GPT Image 1.5.

The big upgrade is editing precision. You can generate an image and then refine it in chat with targeted edits like inpainting or background changes, while keeping lighting, composition, and faces consistent.

Text rendering is also much better, especially for dense layouts like menus, posters, and infographics, with more reliable instruction-following. Results are improved but still imperfect for complex styles, multiple faces, and multilingual text.

ChatGPT now includes a dedicated Images workspace with preset filters, trending prompts, and a one-time likeness upload, plus built-in image understanding for analyzing or transforming uploaded photos in the same thread.

After extensive testing, Gemini 3 comes out on top overall. GPT’s image outputs are solid, but many still carry a noticeable AI look, and generation times remain relatively slow. Nano Banana Pro stands out for hyper-realistic, candid images, with far fewer restrictions around characters, products, or public figures, and much faster generation times, around 10–15 seconds. For most users, Nano Banana Pro checks more practical boxes, while Gemini 3 leads on overall quality and capability.

Why does it matter?

AI image tools have always been good at generating something, but bad at preserving what you care about. GPT Image 1.5 crosses that line by making text readable, faces consistent, and edits predictable. You can now iterate on real assets like documents, layouts, and branded visuals without the image falling apart every time, and in my testing, it clearly outperforms Google’s Nano Banana Pro on text quality and identity consistency.

THROUGH THE VALLEY

Google Labs has dropped a new experimental tool called CC, and it’s basically a Gemini-powered secretary for your digital life. Instead of being another chatbot you have to visit, CC lives inside your ecosystem (connecting to Gmail, Calendar, and Drive). Its main trick is sending you a "Your Day Ahead" email every morning that summarizes exactly what you need to do. It can also draft emails and follow specific instructions to help you stay organized. Right now, it’s in early access for select users in the US and Canada.

Anthropic is testing a new Agentic Tasks Mode for Claude that shifts the assistant from answering prompts to helping users complete real work. The update adds a toggle between normal chat and agent mode, encouraging structured task delegation instead of open-ended conversation. In agent mode, Claude offers five work paths: Research, Analyze, Write, Build, and Do More. Each path is tuned for a specific type of work, from source-based research and validation to writing documents, creating visuals, or building code.

OpenAI is reportedly in talks with Amazon about a potential investment of more than $10 billion, valuing the company at over $500 billion. OpenAI reached that valuation in October after a $6.6 billion share sale. The funding would help cover large cloud costs, including a $38 billion, seven-year commitment for AWS servers. Discussions also include using Amazon’s Trainium chips for AI workloads and exploring future commerce partnerships. Amazon would not be allowed to sell OpenAI models directly to AWS customers, since Microsoft holds exclusive rights.
