Some problems don't solve themselves at a keyboard. Flow is perfect for walks: talk through the idea, the structure, and the tradeoffs, then get back a clean draft you can paste into your doc or AI tool. It's like having a writing assistant that keeps up with your brain in motion.

OpenAI releases internal model’s findings on 377 math problems - they give an internal model ~4000 open research problems and get 722 manuscripts proving 372 families of new results in number theory, theoretical computer science, physics, etc.

They claim to prove a "quasi-Riemann hypothesis", which while not the $1M Riemann Hypothesis from the Millennium Prize problems, is not far from it. For 162 of the manuscripts, they formalize the main result in Lean, which is then mechanically verified by a computer.

Most impressively, they claim to get almost all of these results in one prompt, taking on average ~3 hours of thinking compute on ChatGPT Pro. Their recent result on the Navier-Stokes equations used 10,000 AI agents.

Mathematician at Anthropic Levent Alpgge calls this "obviously the most significant moment in mathematical history":

They also talk about how devastating this is for young mathematicians who were hoping to make a career solving these problems. The same mathematician says that high school students are asking him "is there anything left for me to do in mathematics".

Soon AI will be spitting out new math faster than people can read it.
