🤝 OpenAI strikes Reddit deal to train ChatGPT on its posts

OpenAI has entered into a partnership with Reddit to leverage the data for training its AI models.

This collaboration will provide OpenAI with access to Reddit’s real-time, structured content, including posts and replies, to enhance its tools and models, especially ChatGPT.

Additionally, the companies aim to develop new AI-powered features for Reddit users and moderators. As part of this deal, OpenAI will also become a Reddit advertising partner.

It remains to be seen how they’ll react to this announcement. More than 7,000 subreddits went dark in June 2023 after users protested Reddit’s changes to its API pricing.

OpenAI is bringing some fantastic new features to Plus, Team, and Enterprise users over the next few weeks, making data analysis easier and more powerful than ever.

Here’s what’s new:

Google Drive and OneDrive Integration: You can now add files directly from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive.

Real-Time Table and Chart Work: Ever wish you could work on tables and charts in real time? Now you can! Add a dataset, and ChatGPT will create an interactive table (this is my favorite)

Presentation-Ready Customizable Charts: Making charts for your presentations just got easier. You can customize the bar, line, pie, and scatter plot charts right in the conversation.

1. Apple unveils AI-enhanced eye tracking, enabling users with physical disabilities to navigate their iPhones and iPads using only their eyes.

2. Meta is developing an innovative project called Camerabuds, which aims to integrate cameras and onboard AI into headphones.

3. Waymo says its robotaxis are now making 50,000 paid trips every week. If the company is getting 50,000 rides a week, that means it receives an average of 300 bookings every hour, or five bookings every minute.

4. Humane has upgraded its popular AI Pin product with the GPT-4o model. The new version runs faster, provides more accurate answers, and offers richer information.

5. Stability AI in talks to sell itself, as debt reaches $100M.

6. iPhone owners say the latest iOS update resurfaces deleted pictures in their gallery. Some also reported that older pictures are being shown in the “Recents” album.

7. Elon Musk’s X loses a lawsuit against Bright Data over scraping public online data on X (formerly Twitter). The practice is generally legal in the U.S. when it involves scraping publicly accessible data.

8. xAI’s Grok launches in Europe.

9. Google CEO Pichai says the company will ‘sort it out’ if OpenAI misuses YouTube for AI training.

10. "Portal" between Dublin and NYC, allowing residents across the pond to essentially have a public, non-stop Zoom meeting with each other, shuts down after the OnlyFans model flashes it.

11. Sony is cracking down on tech companies using its artists' music to train AI systems without permission.

12. Grand Theft Auto 6 Sets Fall 2025 Release as Take-Two Posts $2.9 Billion in quarterly loss.

13. Co-founder of Instagram just joined Anthropic as their newest CPO.
