Let’s dive into the Valley of AI…

Instead of manually managing your portfolio, what if you could get an AI Agent to execute tasks on your behalf? That’s what Public has just launched with its new Agents investing experience.

Now, you can enter prompts, like "If the VIX hits 25, buy a put option on the S&P 500 to hedge my portfolio,” or "If my checking account balance exceeds $20,000, sweep the excess into my Bond Account."

From there, the AI proposes an Agent workflow based on your intent. You can refine timing, adjust triggers, and set precise conditions before anything goes live. Once activated, your Agent monitors market conditions 24/7 and executes exactly as defined.

Agents represent a fundamental shift in how you manage your portfolio. For decades, investing meant manually entering orders—whether over the phone, on the web, or in an app. Now, you can simply express your intent, and your Agent handles the execution on your behalf.

THROUGH THE VALLEY

1/ OpenAI is quietly building an AI-first phone

OpenAI is reportedly working on its own AI-first smartphone, with early plans pointing to mass production around 2028. The company is said to be collaborating with Qualcomm and MediaTek on custom chips, while Luxshare Precision Industry may handle design and assembly. Instead of apps, the device is expected to center around AI agents that execute tasks end-to-end. The hardware is being optimized for on-device AI, with heavier workloads pushed to OpenAI’s cloud. If this direction holds, it could shift phones from app-driven interfaces to outcome-driven interactions, putting pressure on ecosystems built by Apple and Google.

2/ OpenAI loosens Microsoft partnership, ends exclusivity

OpenAI and Microsoft have restructured their partnership, ending Azure’s exclusivity over OpenAI models. Microsoft remains the primary cloud partner with early access, but OpenAI can now distribute across other providers, including Google and Amazon. Microsoft’s licensing rights extend through 2032, though no longer on an exclusive basis. The financial terms are shifting too. OpenAI will continue revenue-sharing payments until 2030, but Microsoft is no longer sharing revenue back.

3/ Anthropic hits record $1 trillion valuation

Anthropic is reportedly trading at valuations approaching $1 trillion on secondary markets, up sharply from its $380 billion round just months ago. That puts it near or even above OpenAI in some private trades, where pricing has hovered around the high-$800B range. Demand appears overheated. Shares are scarce, and secondary buyers are bidding aggressively to get exposure. Part of the momentum comes from strong growth and products like Claude Code. But a large part of the surge looks sentiment-driven, where access itself is becoming the asset.
