OpenAI's valuation could hit $150 billion

OpenAI is reportedly in advanced talks to raise $6.5 billion, which could push its valuation to an astounding $150 billion, solidifying its position as one of the largest startups in the world.

What's the impact?

Bloomberg reported that the latest funding round would raise OpenAI's valuation to 74% above its previous $86 billion appraisal earlier this year.

What additional financial move is OpenAI considering?

In addition to the $6.5 billion funding round, OpenAI is also seeking a $5 billion revolving credit facility from banks.

Who are the major investors?

The funding round is led by Thrive Capital, with additional reported investors including Microsoft, Apple, and Nvidia.

Why does this matter?

The increased valuation reflects strong investor confidence in OpenAI’s future projects, including the upcoming “Strawberry” model. This substantial funding will support ongoing development and increased hardware expenses as OpenAI advances its AI technology.

Adobe teases new AI-generative video capabilities

Adobe has announced its upcoming Firefly generative AI features, showcasing text-to-video and image-to-video capabilities, set to be released in beta later this year.

What can we expect?

  • The Firefly Video Model will enable users to generate video clips based on text or image prompts with the ability to adjust camera angles, motion, and shooting distance using simulated camera controls.

  • Users can also choose preset filming styles for added customization.

Any other releases?

Alongside the generative video tool, Adobe will launch Generative Extend for its Premiere Pro software, allowing users to automatically extend video clips by up to two seconds, effectively filling gaps in incomplete footage.
