PLUS: Upwork and OpenAI partners to revolutionize AI hiring
Howdy, Welcome to our latest newsletter
Today, We’ll explore OpenAI trademarking GPT-5, ChatGPT's impressive performance in reasoning tasks, Dell and NVIDIA's efforts to simplify Gen AI for businesses, New Instagram AI tool leaks, and more…

According to a new US trademark application submitted on July 18, OpenAI may be planning to launch ‘GPT-5’. Spotted by us over the weekend, OpenAI has filed a new trademark application with USPTO for “GPT-5”, a “downloadable computer software for using language model”.
OpenAI has previously used the same “downloadable computer software for using language model” description in the trademark filing of previous generation models, such as GPT-4 and GPT-3.5.
Upwork and OpenAI have teamed up to launch OpenAI Experts on Upwork, a program that allows businesses to connect with independent professionals skilled in OpenAI technologies.
They designed the program to feature talent with expertise in the OpenAI API platform and various AI skills available on Upwork, like GPT-4, Whisper, and AI model integration.
The aim is to find common tasks that OpenAI customers need help with, such as building applications with large language models and developing chatbots, and then connect them with pre-vetted AI experts through Upwork's platform.
A recent study at UCLA showed that ChatGPT's GPT-3 did really well in tasks like recognizing patterns, solving analogy questions, and comparing passages. It performed better than college students in predicting complex images, getting 80% correct while students got under 60%. ChatGPT even outperformed the average human SAT scores.
But it wasn't as good in tasks involving social interactions, math reasoning, and understanding space.
The researchers wonder if ChatGPT is just copying human reasoning or if it's using a new way of thinking. To find out, they need access to the software behind ChatGPT and other AI models, but they don't have it right now.
Dell and NVIDIA have introduced Dell Generative AI Solutions to help businesses build and deploy generative AI models on their own premises.
The Dell Generative AI Solutions include a suite of Dell products and services such as IT infrastructure, PCs (Dell Precision workstations), and professional services to simplify the adoption and use of advanced AI models for businesses.
The goal is to help businesses of all sizes and industries benefit from AI's capabilities, solving complex challenges and improving customer experiences.
