OPENAI

According to Reuters, OpenAI is reportedly gearing up to announce an AI search engine on Monday, which could have Google shaking in its homepage!

This search engine, enhanced by Microsoft and utilizing OpenAI's ChatGPT technology, aims to provide real-time, web-sourced information with citations.

It uses images alongside written responses to questions when they’re relevant. For instance, if a user asked ChatGPT how to change a doorknob, the results might include a diagram to illustrate the task.

Just to spice things up, OpenAI decided to drop the search engine just 1 day before Google’s big I/O conference—talk about stealing the spotlight!

And just in case you were marking your calendar, keep that pencil handy. There are some chances that the launch may be delayed.

GOOGLE

In an insightful interview with Emily Chang," Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai shared his strategic vision for Google's AI initiatives.

Here's a concise summary of the key points discussed:

  • The CEO acknowledged the flaws in Google's Gemini image generator, which had generated inappropriate content. He confirmed that Google is completely overhauling Gemini's models to rectify these biases.

  • Despite being late to the conversational AI boom sparked by ChatGPT, Pichai is unfazed, saying, "we are in the earliest possible stages" of AI's potential.

  • Pichai teased that the future of search will blend narrative AI responses with traditional web links. This hybrid approach aims to meet varied user needs, protecting Google's $300B ad-driven search business, central to an ongoing antitrust case.

  • To compete with their biggest competitor, Microsoft, Pichai emphasized his commitment to heavily investing in AI across Google's range of services.
