1. OpenAI announces Superalignment, focused on saving humanity from AI 🤖

Source: OpenAI

In a blog published yesterday, OpenAI predicts that AI with intelligence exceeding that of humans could arrive within the decade. So OpenAI is heading up a new team to control and guide "superintelligent" AI systems.

In short:

  • The team has a four-year plan to figure out how to control these powerful AI systems.

  • The main strategy is to use feedback from humans to train the AI, teach AI to check other AI systems and build AI that can research how to keep AI under control.

  • OpenAI knows that there might be problems with this approach, like the risk of the AI amplifying human biases, but they still think it's worth trying.

The Twitter rival aka “Threads” is finally released worldwide, with over 10 million users signing up within seven hours.

In short:

  • Threads integrates with Instagram, allowing users to post up to 500 characters of text, up to five minutes of video, links, and pictures. I just tried it it’s so much similar to Twitter.

  • Twitter is threatening to sue Meta over its new Threads app less than 24 hours after it launched, as first reported by Semafor.

  • Zuckerberg noted that Threads already has over 95 million posts, 30 million signups

Zuckerberg also tweeted for the first time in 11 years to celebrate the Twitter knockoff.
