Main AI Updates

What music industry lawsuits? Generative AI music app Suno has launched on iOS, shortly after the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) sued the service (and rival Udio) for training its data on artists' work without permission.

The Suno app works similarly to its website. Users put in a text prompt describing what kind of song they want it to generate, and Suno spits it out.

What it does:

  • The app empowers users to make captivating music with AI and interesting music covers, all from the comfort of their smartphones.

  • Swap vocals seamlessly, keeping melody and rhythm.

  • Reimagine tracks with a variety of voices, including modern artists and characters.

The only public cloud designed for training LLMs & generative AI is finally here.

Whether you're training AI models from scratch, fine-tuning existing ones, or using your trained models to make predictions or generate content, you’re in the right place with Lambda.

This is what GPT-4o was supposed to be.

French AI lab Kyutai recently released Moshi, an open-source GPT-4o competitor that can listen, hear, and speak in real time.

Moshi, developed by a team of just eight researchers in six months, can understand and express 70 different emotions and styles, speak with various accents, and handle two audio streams simultaneously, allowing it to listen and talk at the same time.

Why it matters:

Unlike GPT-4o, Moshi is a smaller model and can be installed locally and run offline. This could be perfect for the future of smart home appliances—if they can improve their responsiveness.

It is also available to use today, whereas GPT-4o advanced voice won’t be widely available until the fall.

Imagine being able to listen to your favorite blogs, articles, books, or research papers narrated by legendary celebrity voices. This is now possible courtesy of the new feature called ‘Iconic Voices’ from ElevenLabs

ElevenLabs partnered with the estates of Judy Garland, James Dean, Burt Reynolds, and Sir Laurence Oliver. It allows you to select their voices to read aloud books, articles, and more.

This Iconic Voices feature follows the recent launch of ElevenLabs' Reader App, which turns text into AI-generated audio.

PS: ElevenLabs claims more voices will be released soon.

Quick Tech/AI updates

  1. Shift Robotics introduced Moonwalkers. Moonwalkers are mobility shoes that let you walk at the speed of a run, designed with an adaptive A.I. drivetrain for effortless mobility.

  2. Meta launches 3D Gen, a new system for end-to-end generation of 3D assets from text in less than 1 minute.

  3. Figma disabled the AI tool after being criticized for ripping off Apple’s design. It repeatedly reproduced Apple’s Weather app when used as a design aid, drawing accusations that Figma’s AI seems heavily trained on existing apps.

  4. The new Pro Search feature from Perplexity AI excels in multi-step reasoning.

  5. RunwayML’s Gen-3 Alpha models are now generally available. It allows users to produce hyper-realistic videos from text, images, or video prompts.

  6. Apple gets a non-voting seat on OpenAI’s board. As a part of its AI agreement with OpenAI, Apple will get an observer role on OpenAI's board. Apple chose Phil Schiller, the head of Apple's App Store and its former marketing chief, for the position.

  7. YouTube makes it easier to report and take down AI deepfakes.
