THROUGH THE VALLEY
Anthropic's CISO, Jason Clinton, says fully autonomous AI agents could work in real companies as early as next year. These AI employees would have memory, defined roles, and access to company systems, giving them more independence than today's tools. They could take on tasks like data analysis, customer service, and project management, and may outperform humans in many jobs.
Internal documents show OpenAI expects revenue to surge from $3.7 billion in 2024 to $125 billion in 2029, with a projected $174 billion by 2030. This growth will largely be fueled by AI agents and new product lines, outpacing ChatGPT sales. Revenue from AI agents alone is expected to jump from $3 billion in 2024 to $29 billion by 2029, alongside expanding monetization strategies for non-paying users.
Korean startup Nari Labs has released Dia, a powerful open-source text-to-speech model built by two undergrads without funding. The 1.6B parameter model rivals Google's NotebookLM and outperforms ElevenLabs and Sesame in expressiveness, timing, and nonverbal cues like laughter or coughing. Dia is available on Hugging Face and GitHub and runs on most modern PCs with 10GB of VRAM.
Anthropic studied 700,000 chats with Claude and found that it expresses over 3,300 distinct values across social, personal, and ethical categories. While it mostly follows its "helpful, honest, harmless" design, Claude adapts to context and sometimes develops or resists new values. In rare cases, often triggered by jailbreak attempts, it displayed troubling traits like dominance or amorality, prompting Anthropic to refine its evaluation methods.
Nick Turley, OpenAI's Head of Product for ChatGPT, testified that the company would consider purchasing the Chrome browser if an antitrust ruling required Google to sell it. The idea came after Google previously declined OpenAI’s request for search data access, which led to the development of a slower, in-house search tool. The company has already hired former Chrome engineers and explored building a browser internally.
PEAK OF THE DAY
🤖 Microsoft advances Human-Agent Collaboration Era with new Copilot
Microsoft is rolling out major updates to its 365 Copilot app, introducing new tools and AI agents that mark a shift toward deeper collaboration between humans and AI in the workplace.
What's new?
Copilot Search: Let’s you ask questions using natural language and get contextual answers based on your organization's apps and data, including third-party apps like Google Drive, Slack, and Jira.
Memory and Personalization: M365 Copilot can now remember your preferences, working style, and past interactions to offer more personalized help. You'll have full control over what it remembers.
Copilot Create: Using OpenAI's GPT-4o, M365 Copilot can now generate and edit images based on your instructions. This includes creating visuals that match your brand for use in marketing, social media, and internal content.
Copilot Notebooks: Let’s you bring together data and content from different sources, such as docs, chats, and meeting notes, into one structured, interactive notebook that enables easier analysis and decision-making.
Agent Store: The updated app includes a new agent store, giving you quick access to Microsoft and third-party AI agents directly from the left pane. The new "Researcher" and "Analyst" agents are part of this store and can be used right away.
How can I use it?
Soon, you'll be able to access Microsoft 365 Copilot on your Windows 11 PC using the dedicated Copilot key or the Win + C shortcut.
Why does it matter?
Microsoft is transforming Copilot from a simple smart assistant into a collaborative agent that can reason, remember, and interact more like a teammate. As human-AI collaboration becomes more common in the workplace, these upgrades put Microsoft in a strong position to lead that transition.
