What’s going on?

After months of anticipation and a dramatic leak just yesterday, Meta has officially unveiled the latest gem in its open-source LLM lineup: Llama-3.1 🦙

What's the hype about?

It’s just a tiny tweak to the Llama 3 model, but it packs a punch with Llama 3.1 405B—a 405 billion parameter behemoth, the world’s largest open-source LLM to date, surpassing NVIDIA's Nemotron-4-340B-Instruct.
Meta claims it has outperformed GPT-4, GPT-4o, and Claude 3.5 Sonnet across various tasks.
This model was trained on a whopping 15 trillion tokens using over 16,000 H100 GPUs, making it Meta’s most massive and ambitious model yet.

🤠 Musk teases Grok 3.0 launch

What's going on?

In a recent interview with Dr. Jordan B. Peterson at Gigafactory Texas, Elon Musk shared exciting updates about xAI’s Grok AI.

He said Grok 2.0 will match or even surpass ChatGPT-4. It has finished training with around 15,000 H100 GPUs and is now in the bug-fixing and fine-tuning phase.

What about Grok 3.0?

It’s still in the works, but Musk is pretty sure it’ll be the most powerful AI on the planet.

When can we expect it?

Elon Musk hopes that xAI will be able to roll out Grok 2.0 in August and Grok 3.0 by the end of this year, in December.

What next?

xAI recently secured $6 billion in funding from top investors and is on a hiring spree to build out the team for Grok 3.0 and future projects.
