1/ Italy Bans ChatGPT, Germany and France Next?

ChatGPT was banned by Italy last week (on Friday), making it the first western country to do so.

The Italian authority said:

• OpenAI did not properly inform users that it collected personal data.

• OpenAI illegally trained its algorithm on people’s data.

• OpenAI did not require users to verify their age and processed personal information inaccurately.

The AI ban is slowly becoming a trend; Germany and France are also in talks about the ban tools like ChatGPT, Midjourney, etc.

It might be because of the massive circulation of AI-generated images online, which has become very viral lately.

2/ Meta AI launches cutting edge segmentation tool

Meta just launched a cutting-edge AI model that can identify and cut out objects from any photo or video with a single click or by writing text prompts, and they call it the Segment Anything Model, or SAM.

And what’s special about SAM is that it can also identify any real-world object pretty quickly.

Use Cases: By using SAM:

• Researchers could find and follow particular animals in video footage

• Content creators could extract parts of images to use in collages or video editing.

3/ World’s first defamation case against Generative AI

And the problems continue 😐... for OpenAI as Australian Mayor Brian Hood has recently issued a threat to file a defamation lawsuit against the company over claims ChatGPT labelled him over false bribery.

His lawyers have already sent a letter to OpenAI on March 21, giving the company 28 days to fix the errors. However, OpenAI has so far not commented on the issue.
