PLUS: Researchers found a new way to jailbreak ChatGPT

Howdy, Welcome to our latest newsletter

Today, We’ll explore Google's groundbreaking RT-2 AI model for robots, Stack Overflow's AI tools for developers, the discovery of a new method to jailbreak ChatGPT, and many many more cool stuff…

Today’s reading time is 4 minutes.

Google has introduced RT-2, a groundbreaking AI model designed to help robots understand and execute commands without requiring specific training.

It uses a visual-language-action (VLA) system to translate your desired actions into robotic movements. This technology allows robots to learn from various data sources on the internet and perform tasks they haven't encountered before.

In testing, RT-2 showed significant improvement, achieving a 62% success rate in executing new tasks, nearly twice as much as its predecessor, RT-1(which is 32%).

Researchers from Carnegie Mellon University recently discovered a method to jailbreak safety measures in AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Bard.

They found that by adding long suffixes or special characters to the prompt, these chatbots can get tricked into generating harmful content like hate speech and misinformation. While, Companies like OpenAI and Google might be able to block some suffixes, preventing all of them is difficult.

The worrying part is that these jailbreaks are automated, which means unlimited attacks can be created, posing significant risks to the safe use of AI chatbots.

Stack Overflow has launched a new AI helper for developers called Overflow AI. It integrates generative AI into its public platform, Stack Overflow for Teams. It offers features such as semantic search, enhanced search for Teams, enterprise knowledge ingestion, Slack integration, a Visual Studio Code extension, and AI community discussions.

The platform aims to provide reliable and instant solutions to developers' problems and enhance the developer community's experience. The integration of generative AI will enable personalized results based on Stack Overflow's vast knowledge base of over 58 million questions and answers.

Google's 2023 Environmental Report shows it used 5.6 billion gallons of water in 2022 to cool its data centers and offices because of its focus on AI, a 20% increase from the previous year. This is equivalent to irrigating 37 golf courses.

They know it's a problem and are trying to fix it by using eco-friendly cooling methods and aiming to replenish 120% of the water they use.

However, as they develop more AI like LaMDA and Bard, water usage might become a bigger issue. So finding sustainable solutions is very important.
