THROUGH THE VALLEY
Anthropic has launched Claude Skills, a new way to train Claude on your own tasks. Each Skill is a simple folder with instructions and examples that teach Claude how to do specific jobs, like analyzing spreadsheets, designing presentations, or following brand rules. Claude only loads these Skills when needed, keeping it fast and efficient.
Skills are in feature preview for Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans (requiring code execution enabled) and in beta for Claude Code users and API users with the code execution tool.
These are custom Skills that you or your organization can create for specialized workflows or team-specific tasks:
Write emails using company templates.
Format meeting notes the way your team prefers.
Create tasks in tools like JIRA, Asana, or Linear.
Run company-specific data analysis workflows.
Automate personal tasks and tailor Claude to your work style.
Why does it matter?
This makes Claude Code infinitely more viable, attractive, and might be an alternative to MCP. By packaging knowledge into simple folders, organizations can teach Claude their internal processes safely and efficiently, turning it from a general chatbot into a true enterprise specialist. It’s a quick, flexible way to keep Claude smart, up to date, and perfectly aligned with your workflows.
An exciting milestone for AI in science: Our C2S-Scale 27B foundation model, built with @Yale and based on Gemma, generated a novel hypothesis about cancer cellular behavior, which scientists experimentally validated in living cells.

Google DeepMind has created (and confirmed in lab tests) a brand-new framework for treating cancer, which the company calls a major milestone for AI in science.
Built with Yale University, the model is called Cell2Sentence-Scale (C2S-Scale 27B). It studied single-cell data and found a way to make “cold” tumors (the ones hidden from the immune system) respond better to treatment.
The model tested over 4,000 drug options and predicted that silmitasertib (CX-4945) could help the immune system detect tumors when used in certain conditions. Lab results proved it right: combining the drug with a small dose of interferon made tumor cells about 50% more visible to the immune system.
Why does it matter?
This shows that AI can now come up with new scientific ideas and help test them virtually before real-world trials. If confirmed, DeepMind’s approach could change how new medicines are discovered and developed in the coming years.
