Google introduces AI Creative tools for artists 🎶

Google recently launched TextFX, an experiment that collaborates with rapper Lupe Fiasco, to help artists and writers in the creative process using generative language technologies.

What you need to know :

TextFX is a part of Google Lab Sessions and uses the PaLM 2 language model via the PALM API.
It consists of a set of 10 AI-powered tools that offer capabilities like creating similes, breaking words into phrases, generating sensory details about scenes, and more.
Unlike generating AI-written lyrics, the focus of TextFX is on exploring creative possibilities in writing and art.

NASA and IBM open sources AI model to advance Climate science 🌏

IBM and NASA have partnered to create the watsonx.ai geospatial foundation model, which is now available on Hugging Face.

What you need to know:

The model is based on NASA's Harmonized Landsat Sentinel-2 satellite data (HLS) and aims to make better use of satellite images to study Earth’s climate.
The model can be used for various climate-related sectors, such as tracking deforestation, predicting crop yields, and monitoring greenhouse gas emissions.
By making this AI model open source, IBM and NASA allow everyone to use and modify it for free. This helps scientists, businesses, and startups collaborate and find better solutions to environmental challenges.

Perplexity AI now lets you chat with documents 📄

Perplexity AI has announced a new feature called File Upload that allows you to talk to documents and gain information much faster.

What you need to know :

It lets you chat and ask questions about various text files like PDFs, python files, and CSVs.
This feature is beneficial for code, training manuals, research papers, legal documents, earnings calls, and tables
It works reliably if you're on the Pro plan and use GPT-4 as the default model.
It supports file sizes up to 10 MB and is currently in beta, available only on browsers, not on the app.
