Hume AI enhances Claude with Emotion

Hume AI is teaming up with Anthropic’s Claude AI to create emotionally aware voice interaction that feel more natural and human-like.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Hume trained its EVI 2 model to give Claude AI emotional awareness, enabling it to adjust tone and personality for more natural, empathetic voice conversations.

  • The integration of Claude 3.5 Sonnet boosts EVI's ability to analyze images, translate languages in real time, and assist with coding and debugging tasks.

  • Anthropic's Claude prompt caching has helped Hume cut costs by 80% and reduced latency by over 10%, making the system more efficient and popular among developers.

  • The combined capabilities of EVI and Claude open up use cases like customer service, AI tutoring, mental health support, and personal assistants.

Why it matters:

This collaboration marks a significant step toward AI that can understand not just language, but also emotional context, improving how we interact with technology in both personal and professional environments.

SIDE UPDATES

Nvidia’s new AI tool, Edify 3D, generates 3D objects from text or images in just two minutes. It produces high-quality 3D geometry and 4K textures ready for use in games, films, and AR/VR. Trained on proprietary datasets, Edify 3D creates editable quad meshes and can even build entire environments from text prompts. Nvidia hasn’t announced when it will be available.

Amazon has announced an additional $4 billion investment in Anthropic, bringing its total to $8 billion. This follows an initial $4 billion funding in September 2023, strengthening Amazon's AI ambitions alongside Anthropic, similar to Microsoft's partnership with OpenAI. The collaboration will focus on developing "Trainium" accelerator chips for training Anthropic's next-gen AI models. AWS customers will also be able to fine-tune these models for specific tasks.

Rumors about Gemini 2.0's release have surfaced, with a now-deleted post from a Google employee hinting at a December launch. Enterprise customers reportedly already have access, and hidden mentions briefly appeared on the Gemini website. While the exact date is unclear, signs suggest a major announcement is coming soon, possibly debuting directly on the Gemini site instead of Google AI Studio.

Agent now integrates Unsplash, bringing stunning stock images directly into your web apps for seamless, high-quality visuals. With enhanced React and shadcn support, Agent clones sites faster than ever, making app creation more efficient. Error rates have also dropped by 50%, significantly boosting reliability and performance.

Google is developing an API for Android 16 that lets system apps take actions inside other apps on behalf of users. The feature will be restricted to the default assistant app and guarded by special permissions. Apps will define functions as services that only system processes can access, potentially allowing Google’s Gemini to control apps in ways Google Assistant couldn’t. While details are limited, this could redefine how assistants interact with apps.

Cursor has launched Composer Agent with update 0.43, introducing an autonomous system in its code editor. The agent can execute terminal commands, complete tasks, select context, and plan project structure with improved clarity and follow-through.

AI AGENTS

AI simulations of 1000 people accurately mimic their behaviour

Teams from Stanford, the University of Washington, and Google DeepMind have developed AI agents capable of mimicking human behavior in social experiments with remarkable accuracy.

Here's what you need to know:

  • The AI agents were trained on interview data from over 1,000 participants representing diverse demographics, including age, gender, education, and political views.

  • Interviews of 2 hrs were transcribed using OpenAI's Whisper model and analyzed with GPT-4o, enabling the agents to replicate realistic human responses during social surveys.

  • These interview-based agents achieved 85% accuracy in predicting human responses in social surveys, outperforming simpler models that relied solely on demographic data.

  • In five social science experiments, the AI agents closely matched human responses in four, proving their reliability in simulating human behavior.

  • To support future research, the dataset of 1,000 AI agents is available on GitHub with privacy protections via a two-tier access system.

Why it matters:

This system offers a safe and innovative way to study human behavior, enabling advancements in fields like economics, sociology, and political science while protecting participant privacy.
