Google recently released the latest version of its Gemini AI model (Exp-1114), which has topped most categories in the Chatbot Arena, now sharing the lead with OpenAI's GPT-4o.

Here's what you need to know:

• Gemini-Exp-1114 tops the rankings in math, image processing, and creative writing, based on 6,000+ community evaluations, while securing third place in coding tasks.

• It wins 50% of matches against GPT-4o, 56% against o1-preview, and 62% against Claude 3.5 Sonnet in direct comparisons.

• While strong overall, Gemini ranks fourth in style control, trailing behind GPT-4o’s superior tone and format adaptability.

• It's unclear if Gemini-Exp-1114 is an upgraded version of Gemini 1.5 or an early glimpse of Gemini 2, expected next month.

• The model is publicly available through Google's AI Studio platform or via Gemini API.

While the results are promising, it's still an experimental model, so we’ll need to wait for the final release.

Elon Musk vs. OpenAI: What the Emails REALLY Show 📂

New court filings from Elon Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI have revealed internal emails from the company’s early years, offering a rare glimpse into the intense debates over control, talent retention, and fears of AI dominance.

Here’s what you need to know:

• “We are concerned that as the company progresses toward AGI, you may retain absolute control despite current intentions,” Sutskever wrote to Musk.

• Musk strongly opposed early collaboration with Microsoft, saying, "Would be worth way more than $50M not to seem like Microsoft’s marketing b*tch."

• Altman told Musk DeepMind tried to “kill” OpenAI pre-launch by poaching talent.

• Altman considered launching a cryptocurrency to fund OpenAI. Musk was not a fan of the idea, arguing that it would simply result in a massive loss of credibility for OpenAI.

• The email also shows that as early as 2017, Greg Brockman and Ilya Sutskever had serious concerns about Altman. They cover a period where the organisation’s cofounders were deciding who should run it, and whether or not to become a for-profit entity.

However, the emails don’t reveal the complete story as they are released to allegedly show OpenAI’s antitrust attempts.
