META
🫱🏻🫲🏻 Meta partners with US Government
During Meta's Q3 earnings meeting, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that the company will collaborate with various U.S. government agencies to explore integrating Llama into public sector applications to support government initiatives and tackle societal challenges.
Here’s what you need to know:
Meta is currently partnering with the U.S. State Department to investigate how Llama can help address issues such as expanding access to clean water and reliable electricity in developing states and supporting small businesses.
The company is also in discussions with the Department of Education to determine how Llama could streamline the complex funding process for students, along with ongoing talks with several other departments.
Meta clarified that these partnerships are not financially motivated; instead, they aim to establish Llama as an essential tool for government use, positioning it as the preferred platform for federal initiatives.
Why does it matter:
This move comes as Meta's competitors strengthen ties with government bodies to advance AI capabilities in the public sector.
REPORT
💼 AI’s impact on Freelancing
AI is already reshaping the freelance market, with significant changes in demand for certain job categories. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Upwork shared insights on which freelance roles are growing and which are declining.
Here’s what you need to know:
Freelance jobs that require basic writing, coding, or translation are disappearing across postings on Upwork. In other words, tasks that AI is pretty good at.
Institutions like Harvard Business School, Washington University, and the University of Hong Kong found that since the debut of ChatGPT, freelance job postings on Upwork and Fiverr have dropped 21% in categories for which AI does a good job.
Roles where AI supports but doesn’t replace human expertise, such as data science and IT, are seeing a 40% increase in freelancer pay, highlighting a shift toward high-skill categories.
With AI taking on more repetitive tasks, the freelance economy is evolving, favoring specialized roles that complement AI advancements.

ROBOTICS
🦾 Nvidia unveils HOVER to control humanoid robots
NVIDIA researchers have introduced HOVER, a 1.5 million-parameter neural network designed to control the body of a humanoid robot, capturing the subconscious processing that enables humans to walk, maintain balance, and maneuver their limbs.
Here’s what you need to know:
HOVER was trained in NVIDIA Isaac, a GPU-powered simulation suite accelerating physics simulations up to 10,000x faster than real time.
After just 50 minutes of real-world time on a single GPU, the model completed a year of virtual training, allowing it to function in real-world environments with minimal adjustment.
The model supports various high-level motion commands, including head and hand poses from XR devices like Apple Vision Pro, and full-body poses from motion capture or RGB cameras.
With NVIDIA’s advancements, humanoid robots are set to become more capable and adaptable, positioning NVIDIA at the forefront of robotics innovation.
