OPENAI
Is GPT-5 development slowing down? 🐢
OpenAI is developing a new flagship model, "Orion," which has reached GPT-4-level performance with only 20% of its training. However, its progress seems slower than previous models, especially in coding tasks, likely due to limited high-quality data.
Here's what you need to know:
Researchers attribute the slower pace of progress to a lack of high-quality data.
Despite this, Sam Altman predicts that AGI could be achieved by 2025, and sees future advancements as more engineering-driven than reliant on new scientific breakthroughs.
OpenAI researcher Noam Brown supports Altman’s view, suggesting that advances like the o1 model could fuel ongoing AI growth.
Conclusion:
The reports suggest that normal LLMs without reasoning are rather hitting their limits, while reasoning-based models still have room for growth and potential.
TOGETHER WITH DANELFIN
AI revolutionizing stock picking 📈
Danelfin, named “Best Financial Research Company” at the Benzinga Global Fintech Awards, brings AI technology, once reserved for hedge funds and elite investors, to everyone, revolutionizing stock picking.
Danelfin AI rates the probability of beating the market over the next 3 months, with up to a 94% win rate.
Strong Buy AI picks have outperformed the market every year by an impressive +14.69% on average since 2017.
The AI-powered Danelfin Best Stocks strategy delivered a remarkable +263% return between Jan. 3, 2017, and Aug. 15, 2024, compared to the S&P 500's +189% return during the same period.
ALIBABA
Qwen unveils powerful new open-source coding AI 💻
Alibaba Cloud's Qwen has unveiled new open-source AI coding models, including its top 32B version, matching GPT-4 and Claude 3.5 Sonnet's performance.
Here’s what you need to know:
The Qwen2.5-Coder series offers six models, from 0.5B to 32B parameters, for various tasks.
The 32B model excels in code generation, debugging, and problem-solving.
These models work with popular development tools like Cursor and support over 40 programming languages.
Each model size comes in two versions: a base model for fine-tuning and an instruction-tuned version ready to use right away.
Licensed under Apache 2.0 and available on Hugging Face.
Why it matters:
AI's ability to write and fix code is getting better quickly, and open-source models like Qwen are now competing with top models. This makes advanced coding tools available to a much wider audience, even for those with no coding experience.
AI SLOP
The images of Spain’s floods weren’t created by AI 🌊
A dramatic photo from recent floods in Valencia, Spain, went viral on social media, with many users speculating it was AI-generated.
Here’s what you need to know:
Captured with a telephoto lens, the image shows over 70 cars scattered down a narrow street after a “rain bomb” dumped a year’s worth of rain in a day.
Though confirmed as real through tools like Apple Maps and Street View, viewers doubted its authenticity due to the glossy car surfaces and lack of visible damage.
This skepticism reflects a growing public distrust, fueled by the flood of AI-generated content that blurs the line between real and artificial.
Why it matters:
This trend, known as “AI slop,” fills social feeds with synthetic images that are hard to distinguish from reality. Social platforms and content creators profit from these viral, often misleading posts, potentially undermining trust in online media and pushing platforms toward a credibility crisis.

New procedural 3d modeling builds unique buildings and includes a traffic system where cars follow traffic signals and drive intelligently.
Generative AI is cool and all, but procedural 3D modeling just hits different. Check out this Houdini setup by Pepe Buendia.
Why this is cool: Instead of manually placing every building and car, this system generates an NYC-style city that builds itself -- automatically… x.com/i/web/status/1…
