Ready, Set, Go: Today’s read should be about a 3.5-minute read.

APPLE AI

Apple researchers have created an AI called ReALM that makes Siri smarter at understanding what's on your screen, even better than GPT-4.

It works by turning the screen into text to help Siri figure out what you're talking about more easily. This could make using voice commands so much simpler, like telling Siri to open an app in a certain spot on your screen.

Not just that, it enables more natural voice commands for users, such as opening an app, navigating within apps, handling more complex queries, etc…

OPENAI

Deepfakes have increasingly blurred reality and fiction over the past year.

A new tool from OpenAI that can generate a convincing clone of anyone’s voice using just 15 seconds of recorded audio has been deemed too risky for general release, as the AI lab seeks to minimize the threat of damaging misinformation in a global year of elections.

Voice Engine was first developed in 2022 and an initial version was used for the text-to-speech feature built into ChatGPT.

For now, Voice Engine remains a limited release to select partners.

TRENDING ON X

This is concerning.

A lawsuit revealed that Facebook has reportedly sold all of its users' private messages to Netflix in exchange for all your watch history, while Netflix paid them $100M+ for ads.

OPENAI

OpenAI now allows users to use ChatGPT without having to create an account. With over 100 million weekly users across 185 countries, it can now be accessed instantly by anyone curious about its capabilities.

It has fewer features like you can't save chats or tell it exactly what to do, and your chats won't help train it unless you say okay.

I guess it will make ChatGPT even more mainstream.

SUPERCOMPUTER

Microsoft and OpenAI are collaborating, investing over $100 billion to construct a cutting-edge data center and supercomputer, aiming to elevate their artificial intelligence capabilities further.

At the heart of this endeavor is the creation of an exceptional AI supercomputer, named Stargate by 2028.

Once this project is completed, Microsoft and OpenAI will have all the gear to train the world’s most powerful AI models, including future versions of ChatGPT.
