Amazon's on a robotic roll!
They're test-driving a humanoid buddy named Digit, designed to shuffle around tote boxes in warehouses. The initiative is part of Amazon's broader ambition to integrate robotics into its vast operations, although concerns regarding potential job losses for its 1.5 million-strong workforce are prevalent.
But hey, it's not a job-snatching saga
Tye Brady, Chief Technologist at Amazon Robotics, refuted claims of workforce reduction, emphasizing that while certain jobs may become obsolete, new roles will emerge.
Meta has introduced Stable Signature, a system to watermark AI-generated images, making identification easier.
This invisible watermark is detectable by algorithms even after human editing. Meta aims to integrate this into its open-source AI models and extend it to videos.
The Potential Impact on Business:
Adobe, Shutterstock, and Getty Images, for example, may employ Stable Signature to track how their models are used after they are disseminated, tracing suspected deepfakes or copyright infringements back to specific users.

The next significant frontier in AI, as predicted by Robert Nishihara of Anyscale, is the development of multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs) that can process not just text, but also images and video data.
One of the latest examples of multimodal is the new GPT-4V from OpenAI. (see use-cases)
This evolution is pivotal as it unlocks a plethora of applications.
What are the other killer use cases for multi-modal AI?
Virtual Try-Ons: Utilizing AR along with multi-modal AI to provide virtual try-on experiences, combining visual data with user preferences expressed through text.
Customer Support: Enhancing support by processing images or videos of product issues alongside textual descriptions from customers.
Education:: Developing advanced tutoring systems that can understand and respond to verbal, visual, and written inputs from students.
Threat Detection: Analyzing audio, video, and text data in real-time to identify potential threats or unusual activities.
Content Creation: Assisting in the generation of multimedia content by understanding and integrating text, images, and videos.
Search Engines/Visual Search: Enhancing search engine capabilities by allowing users to search with images and text simultaneously.
