THROUGH THE VALLEY

Researchers have built Delphi-2M, a GPT-based model trained on 400,000 UK Biobank records and validated on around 1.9 million individuals from Denmark’s national patient registry. It can forecast risks across more than 1,200 diseases, mapping health timelines years into the future. The model works by assessing the probability of whether – and when – someone may develop diseases such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, respiratory disease, and many other disorders.

It looks for “medical events” in a patient’s history, such as when illnesses were diagnosed, together with lifestyle factors such as whether they are or were obese, smoked, or drank alcohol, plus their age and sex.

Why does it matter?

Delphi-2M is still in the research phase and is not yet available for routine clinical use. Future versions are expected to include genetic information, biomarker data, diagnostic imaging, and wearable device metrics to improve accuracy and personalise risk even further.

OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank are rolling out five new U.S. data centers under their Stargate project, pushing planned capacity to nearly 7 gigawatts. The total investment has already passed 400 billion dollars and is on track to hit 500 billion with 10 GW by the end of 2025.

The buildout is expected to create 25,000 onsite jobs and tens of thousands more across suppliers and contractors. Oracle and OpenAI have agreed on up to 4.5 GW more capacity over the next five years, after reviewing more than 300 site proposals since January.

Why does it matter?

The AI race now depends on industrial-scale infrastructure. Hundreds of billions are being poured into massive campuses, and the edge will go to whoever can deliver the most powerful, reliable, and cost-efficient compute. These projects will shape not only AI capabilities, but also job growth and energy grids across the country.

Alibaba has rolled out a full set of Qwen3 models across text, vision, audio, and safety. The top release is Qwen3-Max, a trillion-parameter model that performs at near-frontier levels in coding and agent tasks. Its heavy thinking version has already scored perfectly on hard math benchmarks such as AIME 25 and HMMT.

Other models include Qwen3-Omni, which works across text, images, audio, and video while supporting speech in 19 languages. Qwen3-VL, now considered the strongest open-source vision model. New Coder models designed for programming tasks. LiveTranslate-Flash for real-time speech interpretation. And Guard models focused on safety and moderation.
