Howdy, Welcome to our latest Newsletter

Today, we will look into AI recreating a song from human brain recordings, an AI-based social media app, Twitter working on id verification, and moreā€¦.

BEFAKE AI

Ex-MZ CEO launches BeFake (appstore, googleplay) an AI-based social media app that empowers new ways of connecting with friends through AI-generated visuals

The app works just like BeReal but with a catch. Unlike BeReal, this app allows users to imagine and place themselves in any creative scenario using AI. Users can either use the app's pre-made text prompts or input their own to design their picture.Ā

HUMAN BRAIN

The 15-second audio clip sound like a muddy version of a Pink Floyd song like someone is singing it underwater. Except Pink Floyd didnā€™t perform any of the music in the clip.

Instead, the track was crafted by a team of researchers at the University of California at Berkeley, who looked at the brain activity of more than two dozen people who listened to the song.

That data was then decoded by an AI model and reconstructed into audio ā€” marking the first time researchers have been able to re-create a song from brain signals.

Maybe in the future, this could potentially be used for communication with other animals.

X (TWITTER)

Independent app researcher, Nima Owji, has shared a screenshot showcasing the requirements for Premium users to verify their identity.

The materials needed include a government-issued ID and a device with an active, unobstructed camera, likely a smartphone to take a selfie and capture images of their ID.

The verification process is expected to take approximately five minutes.

META

Meta is set to release a new coding AI named "Code Llama," designed to challenge other major coding AI models from companies like OpenAI and Google.

Based on Llama2, this new system will be open-source, free to use, offering real-time code suggestions to developers as they work. Its free availability might entice customers away from paid coding assistants like Microsoftā€™s GitHub Copilot.

Speculations suggest that the model could be launched as early as the following week.

OpenAI, known for its AI chatbot ChatGPT, has acquired Global Illumination, a New York startup focusing on AI-driven creative tools.

OpenAI said that the entire team has joined OpenAI to work on our core products including ChatGPT.

The team previously designed and built products early on at Instagram (like discovery algorithm) and Facebook and has also made significant contributions at YouTube, Google, Pixar, Riot Games, and other notable companies.
