PLUS: Apple secretly develops AppleGPT to rival ChatGPT

Howdy! Welcome to our latest newsletter.

We’ve got some exciting updates from OpenAI, Google, and Apple today. And guess what? there’s some great news for Android users too.

Today’s reading time is 3 minutes.

  • Official ChatGPT app for Android: OpenAI has officially put the ChatGPT app on the Google Play Store. The app's interface closely resembles the iOS version, as shown in the screenshots. It will be also free just like the iOS app. If you're interested, you can pre-register now on the Play Store to get access to the app when it becomes available next week.

  • Custom instructions: A new feature for ChatGPT that allows it to remember user preferences and give tailored responses accordingly. Users can provide their information and specify how they want ChatGPT to respond.

Google Assistant is getting a new feature called "Summarize," which allows it to take long web pages and condense them into short bullet-point summaries. You can either use it by tapping on a suggestion that appears while browsing through Google Chrome or by directly asking the Assistant, "Summarize this."

As of now, the feature is still a work in progress and may not be functional yet.

A121 Labs' new tool called Contextual Answers API can minimize the inaccuracies and hallucinations created by the AI chatbots like ChatGPT and Bard.

The tool makes sure the chatbot only uses real and accurate information from the organization's data, avoiding made-up or incorrect answers.

Apple has created its own AI system called Ajax or AppleGPT internally, similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT. It's an experiment running on Google Cloud, but it's not ready for regular users due to security concerns.

Currently, only Apple employees can use Ajax for specific tasks like product prototyping. Apple's top executives are exploring ways to incorporate it into their products in the future, but nothing has been finalized yet.

After this news, Apple stock adds as much as $71 billion in market value.
